I am sorry to say that my recent experience with this HP product and HP support was less than even mediocre. If you value your time, you may want to think twice before purchasing this monitor or any HP product for that matter. The monitor appears to be well made. It is stylish and modern in appearance, and arrived with easy to follow setup instructions out of the box. Amazon is awesome and shipped the monitor to me quickly as promised at a fair price. The plan was to connect it to my new Lenovo Intel i5 core machine which sports an HDMI connection and HD graphics card. I followed the setup instructions to the letter for HDMI cable use and immediately experienced a problem with no picture appearing on the screen upon boot up. I tried to reboot several times to no avail. I noticed that the monitor entered sleep mode only ten seconds after turning it on. The menu button, when pushed, did not bring up any menus whatsoever. I then attempted to configue the monitor with the use of the supplied VGA cable. Same problem: no picture, no menu options, premature entry into "sleep mode." Frustrated, to say the least, I called HP tech "support" and reach "Sam" in India. (Why do they still make them use anglo names when we all know American tech support has been outsourced to India, as if the accent alone does not give it away?) Sam was nice enough but not very knowledgeable. He asked me to repeat the steps that I had already performed to no avail. Another 20 minutes and we saw the same lack of response from the monitor. He asked if he could research the problem and call me back in 30 minutes. I agreed. I was to call him back if I did not hear back from him within 30 minutes. 45 minutes went by, and I called back, and unable to get back to trusty old Sam, I spoke with another gent who proceeded to look up the case and placed me on hold for 55 minutes of silence followed by music and then the pre-recorded pleasantly intoned voice of an American woman bragging of the awards HP has recently won for its customer support responsiveness and how great they are as a company. At the 75 minute mark, the phone simply clicked dead. I had been hung up on. I had heard similar horror stories, and rest assured, you will find them here on Amazon reviews pertaining to HP products. The monitor is going back to Amazon, and I will definitely be buying a Xerox all-in-one unit instead of the HP I was previously considering. As for a monitor, I am looking at the BenQ product line - they have a great Full HD consumer products award winner that has caught my eye. Sorry HP, I can no longer trust you in any respect.

Pros:

Highest resolution available
Sharp, clear image
Great brightness and bright/dark contrast
Built-speakers appear great to me (not an audio expert, but a normal gamer)

Cons:
Nothing I'm aware of so far

When I bought this monitor on HP official site, there was only one review on the HP site and no review on newegg or amazon. The only review back then on the HP site is a 1-star review, complaining about hardware detection problem. This 1-star review really got me nervous. However, I really needed a HD monitor for my recently bought xbox 360 and decided to trust HP (I believed that the 1-star reviewer might've just got a broken one unluckily) and give a shot to this monitor with such good advertised stats.

It turns out that this monitor is great. I received the monitor 2 weeks ago, and waited until now to write a review just because I want to be fair and want to try it for a period of time. Now I want you guys to know that, if you want a monitor with maxed out resolution and great visual effects, and at the same time want to save money as much as possible. This is the right one for you.
